COLORFUL DOOR & I PROJECT – “SOURCE”
An instrumental journey through atmosphere, contrast and sound
Vienna, October 6, 2023 — Colorful Door and I Project released “Source”, an eight-track instrumental album created in Vienna and built around atmosphere, texture, movement and the interaction between different musical ideas.Originally recorded in Vienna in July 2023, “Source” represents an important part of the instrumental side of the Colorful Door catalogue. With no vocals at the centre of the compositions, the album allows melody, arrangement and sonic atmosphere to carry the narrative.The album opens with the title track “Source”, establishing the sonic character of the release. From there, the music moves through a series of contrasting images and moods.“Hidden Place” suggests a more intimate and mysterious space, while “Red Rain” introduces a darker and more cinematic atmosphere. “The Newspaper” shifts toward an urban and observational perspective, followed by the fluid and open character of “Waves”.The middle of the album becomes more dramatic with “Two Fires”, before “Backdrop” creates a quieter transitional space. The album closes with “Black Cat”, leaving the listener with an enigmatic final image.Rather than relying on vocals or lyrical storytelling, “Source” communicates through instrumental composition. Each title becomes a visual or emotional suggestion, allowing the listener to create their own interpretation of the music.

A COLLABORATIVE INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT
“Source” was created through the collaboration between Colorful Door and I Project, combining their musical ideas into an instrumental collection that moves freely between atmospheric, cinematic and contemporary sounds.The arrangements were created by Colorful Door, while the music was composed by I Project and Colorful Door.Produced in 2023, the album demonstrates an early stage of the instrumental direction that would later continue through other Colorful Door releases, including the instrumental jazz EP “On the Road.”
PRODUCTION
The album was recorded in Vienna in July 2023 and produced by Colorful Door and I Project.Mastering was completed in Berlin in July 2023, giving the final recordings a polished and cohesive sound while preserving the atmospheric character of the compositions.“Source” remains a distinctive chapter in the Colorful Door catalogue — an instrumental work where sound replaces words and each composition becomes an open space for interpretation.
